About Acer hyrcanum Fisch. & C.A.Mey.
Acer hyrcanum Fisch. & C.A.Mey. is a deciduous tree that can reach up to 15 metres (49 feet) in height. Its leaves grow up to 4 cm (1.6 in) across; they are most often 5-lobed, but occasionally only 3-lobed. The upper surface of the leaves is dark green, while the underside is a lighter green, due to a waxy layer covering it. This species produces greenish-yellow flowers that open in early spring, and the flowers are arranged in short-stalked corymbs. Its fruits are hairless samaras that reach up to 3 cm (1.2 in) in length. When mature, the tree has grayish-brown bark that develops irregular fissures. Most of the subspecies of Acer hyrcanum are grown in cultivation.
