Acer barbinerve Maxim., commonly known as bearded maple, is an Asian maple species native to Korea, eastern Russia, and northeastern China, specifically the provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning. This species can grow as either a shrub or a multi-stemmed tree that reaches up to 7 meters in height. It has smooth gray bark. Its leaves are simple (non-compound), with 5 shallow lobes, a leaf blade that grows up to 10 cm long, and teeth along the leaf margins. Acer barbinerve is a dioecious species, meaning individual plants produce either male or female reproductive structures.
