About Acacia simplex (Sparrm.) Pedley

Acacia simplex (Sparrm.) Pedley is a perennial climbing tree. It has no common English name, but it is known by regional common names: tatakia in Fiji, tatagia in Samoa, tātāngia in Tonga, and Martaoui in New Caledonia. This species is native to islands in the western Pacific Ocean, ranging eastward as far as Savaiʻi, and is also found in Argentina. It can grow up to 12 metres tall. The tree is used to make a toxin for fishing; this toxin incapacitates fish, but is apparently not harmful to humans.
